Already one of the most affordable German sedans in the North American market, the Volkswagen Jetta enters its seventh generation in 2019, moving beyond its success to a new level of satisfaction with revised styling, more interior space, expanded equipment and upgraded technologies.
The front-wheel drive Jetta is now powered by Volkswagen's 1.4-liter direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine, generating 147 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. New transmissions include a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic with sport mode; Driving Mode Selection is also available, with four driver-selectable modes for throttle response, steering and shift points. Trim-dependent standard equipment includes: power sunroof, 17-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlamps and daytime running lamps, fog lights, heated/ventilated front seats, leather upholstery and dual-zone automatic climate control, as well as a 6.5- or 8-inch touchscreen display, HD/satellite radio, Bluetooth wireless phone/music streaming, USB port, smartphone integration and voice-activated navigation; new for 2019, a BeatsAudio premium sound system is offered. Safety features found on every Jetta are comprised of four-wheel anti-lock brakes with brake assist, electronic stability/traction control systems and a rearview camera, along with six air bags. Other available driver assistance technologies include Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, Lane Assist and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert.
The Volkswagen Jetta is completely redesigned for 2019. Notably, a sporty R-Line trim debuts for the first time on this model, showcasing unique 17-inch aluminum wheels, gloss black grille and mirrors, two-tone upholstery and the XDS Cross Differential System.
