The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako is seeking a qualified person to fill the position of GIS Technician.  Reporting to the Director of Planning, this position is responsible for implementation and maintenance of the GIS systems for the Regional District.  This includes mapping, database management, data collection and data input.  The GIS Technician also responds to public inquiries for property information and assists the public in interpreting land use bylaws and regulations.      The preferred candidate will demonstrate the following. &bull The ability to plan, implement and document systems and workflows. &bull Attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy. &bull The ability to work with fellow employees, the public, and outside agencies to deliver GIS services and mapping in a courteous and responsive manner.  &bull An understanding of the principles and practice of cartography, and the ability to utilize a GIS system to its full capacity as an analytical and decision-making tool.   The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako provides local government services to a large area of more than 77,000 square kilometers.  The RDBN offices are located in the Village of Burns Lake, which is in the heart of northern British Columbia, about 222 kms. west of Prince George, B.C. on Highway 16.  The region offers affordable housing, stunning scenery, and incomparable recreational opportunities such as world class fishing, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and camping.     The position requires a degree, diploma, or certificate specializing in GIS.   Experience working in a local government GIS environment would be an asset.  This is a permanent full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits package.    Applications should be addressed to Jason Llewellyn, Director of Planning at 37, 3RD Avenue,?
