Position: Data Coordinator Classification:Permanent, Full time Salary:$60,000 - $80,000 Location:Williams Lake and six Tŝilhqot’in Communities Deadline:Until Filled The Tŝilhqot'in National Government (TNG), is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, British Columbia and serves six communities which include ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yunesit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox. TheData Coordinatoris a core functional role for the Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG). TheData Coordinatorwill assist in overseeing the management, development and use of data systems and networks. Their duties include transforming and transferring data upon request, translating and archiving data, and adhering to legal and regulatory standards, while also safeguarding TNG’s security and confidentiality standards, ensuring that the First Nations principles of OCAP®, which establish how First Nations’ data and information will be collected, protected, used, or shared are observed and followed. TheData Coordinatorwill be highly organized, with great attention to detail. They will need to attend to any data requests by analysts or senior management, requiring them to maintain excellent organizational skills and data integrity. Key Responsibilities * Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive data management policies and procedures * Assist staff with data entry methods * Collect and retain data on an ongoing basis * Assist with creating rules and procedures for data sharing * Lead a data archiving project for the Nation * Transform or transfer data upon request * Translate and archive data * Guarantee adherence to legal and company regulations * Prepare data for meetings and presentations * Monitor and evaluate information and data systems that could affect analytical results * Coordinate with management and program staff in identifying and developing analysis of data management needs * Adhere to privacy regulations related to data * Assist with reports and data extraction when needed * Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications * Develop management techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data * Manage all incoming data files * Develop data managing strategies on a continual basis * Assist with recognizing and upholding digital security systems to protect delicate informationRequirements * Degree in computer science, computer engineering, library science or related field * A minimum of two years’ experience in data management or analysis * Ability to decipher and organize large amounts of data * Have archive experience * Demonstrate innovation and understanding of how to work collaboratively with First Nations * Ability to work in a busy, frequently changing environment * Possesses knowledge of First Nation data sovereignty * An analytical mindset with superb communication and problem-solving skills * Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team * Excellent communication and collaboration skills * Strong understanding of databases and data analysis procedures * Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive information * Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle * Understanding of the cultural and political environmentWorking Conditions * Travel will be required * Ability to attend and conduct presentations * Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware * Overtime as required * Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be requiredPlease send a cover letter, resume and 3 references to Jenai Nolin Human Resources Generalist & Recruitment Tŝilhqot’in National Government 1729 South Lakeside Drive Williams Lake, BC V2G 3A9 Email: jenainolin@tsilhqotin.ca Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry - per Section 16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act.
